Concert performed by Javier Bonet (French horn) and Miriam Gómez (piano) where musical pieces starred by this brass instrument will be played.

In the first part we will listen the music of Miguel Bustamante (1948), Miguel Turina (1952) and Salvador Brotons (1959). «Jocs sobre 'Tocatico-tocatà' (Homenatge a Carles Santos)» pays tribute to the figure of Carles Santos (1940-2017) and his multifaceted artistic career as a pianist, composer and performer. «Consolación» composed in 2018, is a musical piece played in a single movement where the multiple possibilities of the French horn-piano duet become evident, going from lyrical sounds to a certain violence, passing through rhythm and openly “scherzing” passages. Along the piece appears a fleeting fragment of Franz Liszt’s «Consolation».

The pieces of the second part are part of a record album by Javier Bonet and Miriam Gómez-Morán entitled JUST for FUN. About this project, Bonet tells us that “The idea of recording a collection of pieces which showed the pleasure of composing and “playing” music was working in my head”. In Spanish the word used for “playing” an instrument is “tocar” (to touch) but in English and other languages of our environment the words used to convey this action  (play, spielen, jouer) imply also the meaning of “doing things for pleasure, as children do; to enjoy yourself and have fun”. We will also listen versions of  «Requiebros» by Gaspar Cassadó (1897-1966), «Pièce en forme d'Havanera» by Maurice Ravel (1875-1917), «Danza Española n.5»  by Enrique Granados (1867-1916), «Oblivion» by Astor Piazzola (1921-1992) and «Romanza Andaluza, opus 22», by Pablo Sarasate (1844-1908).

All these pieces require high doses of skillfulness in the versatility and musicality and in the search of the most suitable sound for each one of them as well as in the subtle phrasing and in the use of the more extreme registers of these instruments.

Free entrance until reaching auditorium full capacity.

The tickets will be handed out an hour before the beginning of the concert. We strongly recommend to pick them up sufficiently in advance.

Biography

Miriam Gómez-Morán and Javier Bonet are one of the few steady duets of French horn and piano in the world and surely the only one which is able to offer the highest level in their concerts with performances of modern compositions with original instruments. First-order musicians with quite developed musical careers, since they started their collaboration in 2004 both performers have brought this repertoire to a great number of concert halls all over the world, deserving a special mention the the concert they gave in the Carnegie Hall in New York. It is also important to highlight their albums, a recording work which is one of its kind in Spain. For the Arsis Company they have recorded an album with music by J.F. Dauprat and Tableau Musical played with original instruments, another one composed of classical sonatas (by Ries, Krufft, Danzi i Czerny) for French horn and pianoforte and an excellent recording with modern instruments called “Romances pour cor et piano”. For the new company EXAUDIO they have recorded Just for Fun with universal pieces transcribed by Javier Bonet himself.
