A bookjockey is a new and trial format to display and enjoy photobooks in the style of a DJ session, showing and blending books to create a story. Through a lineal and chronological tour around El Cabanyal quarter we will review, through images, some of the aspects which contribute to create this neighbourhood’s identity. On this premise, bookjockey can change with full freedom, addressing to small groups or great audiences, developing in an educational context or in a festive frame. Always with the aim of communicate to the public, in a new and special manner, matters concerning the printed photographical image, its power and its possibilities. For this edition of Fragments, Tapas Duras proposes a bookjockey specifically designed to accompany the exhibition “- I would like it always be like now- said him…” by Laura Silleras.

Biography :

TAPAS DURAS (HARD COVERS)

We are three women photographers settled in Valencia with experience in the world of design and who share the same way of understanding photography. We consider that exhibition and publishing of projects bearing ideas that may enrich the editorial scene is necessary. We are interested in those works and projects which reflect on the photographical language. In this same vein, our first publication “Photographist” is a “metaphotographical” visual tale about a photo competition for retirees. We also take part occasionally in fests, talks and BookJockey competitions.

Laura Donate has a degree in Advertising and a master’s in Art and Communication from the Complutense University of Madrid. After having worked in different design studios in Madrid, Praga and Amsterdam, she settled in Valencia where she photographed and published “Quieto” and “11 Different Corners”.

Ana Raquel Leiva studied photography in the EASD of Valencia. In a first stage, she developed and published projects linked to their travels: Nahual and Adduna. Nowadays she pays attention to her most daily and closer environment with self-edited projects like Cita Prèvia, Grafías and Hydor where she combines photography and graphical design.

Blanca Sanfélix studied Fine Arts in the PUV and in Akademia Sztuk Pięknych w Warszawie in Warsaw. After having studied a master’s degree in Graphical Design and Communication, she worked in different studios in Valencia. She has published “Camino” and “Chiu-Chiu”.
