This second edition of the season of cinema and debate Big Bang Dones (meaning Big Bang Women) aims to go beyond the field of the theoretical reflection about feminism —which is always necessary— to go deep into the observation and analysis of the different ways of putting in place the feminist heritage. Both in the field of urban development projects as well as in the economic, cultural or political fields, women are posing a new way of living and sharing experiences together, rethinking the reality in order to create a more egalitarian, fair and sustainable society. “Feminisms in praxis” expects to raise awareness about the practice of feminism in some of the main aspects of the collective living, already governed by an heteropatriarchal system, openly capitalist and strictly vertical.
Women politicians, lawyers, architects, professors, farmers, sociologists, illustrators, actresses, journalists, theorists, writers and cultural managers and mediators, will explain their experiences, their projects and their ways of implementing the feminist approach in their own fields of work and knowledge. Furthermore, this year, BIG BANG DONES includes the first conference day “La dona mira, mira la dona”, (The woman looks, look at the woman) organised by the Corporació Valenciana des Mitjans de Comunicació- CVMC (Valencian Corporation of Mass Media) and À Punt Mèdia (the Valencian TV channel), which will analyse the current situation of women in audiovisual creation, production and representation.
Just like the last year, after the screenings, the audiovisual starting points which will introduce the topics of discussion, the sessions are opened to the comments and participation of all the attendants. Because, in the end, feminism should be a joint task and a shared mission that, through collective learning, seeks not just having an influence, but disrupting the existing state of affairs.
