The floral offering to the Mother of the Forsaken started in 1939. At the beginning it was a spontaneous action which started after the civil war which divided the country, as a thanksgiving action to the Virgin, offering her a single flower, a bouquet or a bunch. Following these precedents, the “Ofrena” (the floral offering) was officially born in 1945. The MuVIM’s «Floral Tribute» wants to boost reflection on what we can offer and express gratitude for as a society, getting inspiration from the structure of the floral cape that people realizes to the Virgin with their flower gifts during the local celebration of “Fallas” and which represents the timeless connection among traditions, values and wishes.
